Conti-Wave®: Innovation for Quiet Performance
One of the most common concerns among performance-focused riders and professional mechanics is drivetrain noise. TOKEN investigated the root causes: the chain’s entry angle, the contact area, and the frequency of engagement with the derailleur pulley wheels.
Testing revealed that when the chain enters the derailleur from different angles, conventional pulley tooth profiles often fail to guide it smoothly. This leads to inconsistent contact and micro-friction—two key contributors to the higher noise levels typically associated with alloy pulleys.
To address this, TOKEN developed the patented Conti-Wave® tooth profile. Its continuous chamfer and wave-shaped teeth reduce the contact area between pulley teeth and the chain’s inner plates by 82.5%, ensuring smooth and quiet chain engagement—even under varying chain entry angles.
